Byrek is known as the street food of the Balkans. It is very used in the Albania families. Also called Börek, burek, or lakror is a family of baked or fried filled pastries made of a thin flaky dough known as yufka (or phyllo). Byrek recipe by chief Najada Frasheri:
Grease the baking tray and cover it with a layer of 9 overlapped and greased sheets of butter and oil page by page. Then pour the filling, cover other sheets of pasta fillo. Cook at 190 ° for 20 min. Monitor every 10min since it varies from oven to oven.

How to prepare the filling: Heat olive oil in a large wide skillet on medium heat. Add chopped onions and stir to coat. Reduce heat to medium low and cook until onions are softened and golden color. Season with salt, pepper and mint to taste. Add chopped tomatoes and bring to low simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook, uncovered until thickened for about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat until cool.
