Korca

Korca, Located in the southern heart of the country, 853 meters above sea level and protected by the mountains that surround it, it is a pretty urban agglomeration from the historic center with slate roofs, which is about four hours from the capital.

Inhabited since the Bronze Age, it is mentioned for the first time only in 1280, in a medieval document.

The current appearance is due to the Ottoman-era modernization, when the city, conquered by the Turks in 1440, became flourishing and known for the manufacture of carpets, and for a bazaar (now preserved as a national monument), an important crossroads of trade towards the ‘Asia.
